Cub Scouts - Evie

One of the coolest songs out at the moment is this dashing little number by the Cub Scouts, and what a fabbo little clip this is! I’ve watched it a couple of time already, and I’ve learnt a few things. Firstly, all of the cub scouts have amazing smiles. I mean, happy, gooey, melt-my-heart smiles. Also, doing things backwards is more fun. Or at least, watching things in rewind is more fun.

It reminds me of the classic Ace Ventura scene where Jim Carrey repeats himself in reverse, in true genius comedic fashion. Of course, this film clip is less funny and more pretty, as the band fling around bright colours like a traditional Indian street fiesta. The filmmakers have done a stunner of a job creating what is a perfect companion to ‘Evie’.

It’s such a grand indie pop song, full of warmth and some wicked tropical caribbean stylings, and you can
get a free download of this wonderful track from triple j unearthed here. It’s currently number 1 on the pop and overall unearthed charts, so congrats to Cub Scouts. Don’t forget to check out the band on facebook so you can stay up to date with their shenanigans!

This isn’t One Direction. Don’t get too excited. But it is a wonderful song, and I think this band deserves more...
